Job overview

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our team of staff that are committed to supporting our pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities. The successful candidates will need to have GCSE qualification grade C/level 5 or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths, and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour and to motivate and encourage students. Ideally, candidates will also have experience in supporting autistic children.

We are recruiting for more than one post and welcome applications from staff currently working with primary, secondary or no previous experience in a school.

The pay band for the role is Scale 3 (point 5 to 6), which is £21,575 to £21,968.

The hours of work for the role will be 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.55am to 3.30pm, with a team meeting finishing at 4.00pm on Tuesdays) and this will be required term time, plus five staff training days (39 weeks in total).

The actual salary for the role is £13,997.28 to £14,252.25 (under 5 years' service) or £14,185.16 to £14,443.55 (over 5 years' service).

About St Benedict's Catholic College

St Benedict’s Catholic College is a secondary school located in the ancient town of Colchester, Essex. Originally founded in 1963 as a secondary modern, St Benedict’s exists today as a co-educational voluntary-aided school.

It is the only Catholic secondary school in Colchester. With 900 students aged 11-16, St Benedict’s is a smaller than average secondary school.
