Job overview

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our team of staff who are committed to supporting our pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities. The successful candidate will need to have GCSE qualification grade C/level 5 or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths, and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour and to motivate and encourage students. Ideally, they will also have experience in supporting autistic children.

The pay band for the role is Scale 3 (point 6 to 7), which is £25,989 to £26,403. The actual salary for the role is £16,860.96 to £17,129.55 (under 5 years' service) or £17,087.28 to £17,359.48 (over 5 years' service).

The hours of work will be 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.55 am to 3.30 pm, with a team meeting finishing at 4.00 pm on Tuesdays). This role is term-time, plus five staff training days (39 weeks in total).

About St Benedict's Catholic College

St Benedict’s Catholic College is a secondary school located in the ancient town of Colchester, Essex. Originally founded in 1963 as a secondary modern, St Benedict’s exists today as a co-educational voluntary-aided school.

It is the only Catholic secondary school in Colchester. With 900 students aged 11-16, St Benedict’s is a smaller than average secondary school.
