About Earlsfield Primary School

Earlsfield Primary School is a thriving, community-focused two-form primary school.

We are proud of our children and their achievements. These were noted in our outstanding Ofsted report in 2017 when Earlsfield was recognised as a school where 'pupils flourish, both academically and in their personal development.'

Our world is constantly changing and as a school we recognise this and the impact it has on our children. We want to equip our children with the skills they will need for the years ahead; we want our children to understand that individually and collectively, they can make a difference. Most importantly we want to enthuse a love of learning as well as respect and care for each other.

Our curriculum is broad, diverse, well resourced and is underpinned by our school values of care, inspire, challenge, achieve, respects and enjoy.

We aim to ensure that  every child meets their full potential by providing a curriculum that:

  • Celebrates effort as well as achievement, having high aspirations for all and enabling all children to succeed.
  • Places the child at the centre of learning, nurturing their creativity, developing independence and resilience and ensuring that they are able to access a relevant and appropriate curriculum that meets their needs.
  • Creates a respectful and supportive environment which celebrates the rights of the child, diversity, social responsibility and promotes our values.
  • Develops a love of learning through effective teaching and a broad and balanced curriculum that reflects our values.
  • Promotes positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Challenges themselves and allows them to encourage others.

Key features of our curriculum include:

  • A clear focus on English and Maths
  • Personalised learning
  • Enquiry led topics
  • Culturally diverse themes
  • Frequent trips and visitors
  • Specialist teachers in music, PE, Art and French.

By the time they leave Earlsfield, our children achieve their potential as a result of their motivation and desire to succeed, excellent teaching and a strong home/school partnership.

The children’s welfare is of primary importance to us. At Earlsfield we develop a climate within which all pupils can grow and flourish, respect others and be respected. Through the curriculum, children are given an awareness and understanding of their own and others’ beliefs and they explore issues such as poverty, self-confidence, beliefs, greed, injustice, sexism, racism and other forms of discrimination. Support networks in place include a Learning Mentor and Place2Be, a leading national children's charity who provide in school counselling support.

Children know and understand how to act in an age appropriate manner. Great emphasis is placed on the children to take responsibility for their behaviour and be self-reflective. This has been strengthened through the Rights Respecting School award. Children have high expectations of each other’s behaviour and have a strong understanding of fairness and equality.

Wraparound Care is provided from 8am (through the school run Breakfast Club) to 6pm (through the Wandsworth led After School Care.) We also offer club places for in excess of 500 children, many of which take place in our national award winning playground.

Earlsfield has a strong sense of community and wonderfully supportive PTA who have contributed significantly to the school’s growth over a long period. They are very active and as well as organising events for children, they have frequent social gatherings for parents.

We have excellent transport links with Earlsfield station (direct routes to Clapham Junction , Waterloo, Wimbledon and Kingston) being only a 1 minute walk away. Alternatively a short bus ride will take you to Tooting and the Northern Line.

We hope you are able to take the opportunity to find out more about our school through our website  https://www.earlsfield.wandsworth.sch.uk/
