JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Learning Support Assistant is to assist in the identification, assessment, support, monitoring and evaluation of specific learning needs of assigned students, in collaboration with other school faculty and staff, recognizing and valuing diversity in the student population, as well as the interconnectedness of teaching/learning and pastoral care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPPORT AND LEARNING
· Collaborate with SEN Coordinator and teachers to implement support for students with additional/higher learning needs
· Assist in the identification, development and facilitation of support in order to meet the learning needs of students
· Develop Learning Support Plans for students under the supervision of the SEN Coordinator, including teaching, learning and behavioural goals, strategies and evaluation criteria and sharing these with classroom teachers, specialist teachers and teaching assistants
· Provide direct, explicit and intensive teaching for students with specific needs via in-class individual support and/or in individual or small group pull-out sessions
· Where appropriate and in coordination with SEN Coordinator and relevant teachers and leadership staff, plan and implement necessary learning and assessment accommodations
· Work across a variety of areas including literacy, numeracy, behaviour management, organization and social skills development, enhancing the development of confident and capable learners
· Demonstrate knowledge and practice of child protection, GDPR and confidentiality policies, thereby promoting the wellbeing and protection of all children at school
· Demonstrate well-developed teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
· Engage students in education programs
· Maintain professional, positive relationships with parents/caregivers
· Maintain strong working knowledge of educational theory and best practice in learning support
· Embrace the school mission, expectations and development plan
· Demonstrate commitment in areas of self-study, e.g., professional development
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
· Qualified studies in psychology and / or social pedagogy with emphasis in pedagogy
· Already be a confident and enthusiastic person with experience in supporting children with special pedagogical needs
· Strong command of conversational English
· Experience in an educational setting
· Resilience and flexibility
· Superior attention to detail and enthusiasm for teamwork, with integrity and a strong ethic.
· Willingness to work in an international scale-up environment and contribute to the company's success by acting as a competent partner
· Valid working permit / permission to work in Austria
Desirable:
· Have more than 2 years of experience working with children in a counselling environment
· Experience in (an) international school/s
· Additional language/s, in particular German
· A teaching certificate or pedagogical experience
· Valid First Aid Certification
