Learning Support Assistant

The Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join our Supported Learning (Mainstream) team at our vibrant Hackney campus. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with teachers, Senior Support Workers and curriculum teams to ensure that neurodiverse learners, those with learning difficulties, disabilities, and other barriers to learning receive the personalised support they need to success. Your work will help students build confidence, independence and vital academic, social, and life skills.

As part of our Supported Learning Team, you will provide in‑class support, one‑to‑one assistance, small‑group interventions, and personalised guidance to help students reach their goals. This includes supporting learners with SEND/EHCPs, assisting in adapting learning materials, promoting positive behaviour, and contributing to the development of individual support plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-class, one‑to‑one and small‑group learning support.

• Support learners with SEND/EHCPs to progress and achieve their targets.

• Assist with reading, scribing, IT support, personal care, and adapted learning resources.

• Promote independence, positive behaviour and emotional literacy.

• Support exam access arrangements and supervise assessments where needed.

• Escort learners on off‑site activities and assist with transport needs if required.

• Maintain accurate electronic records and contribute to support plans and reviews.

• Work closely with teachers, curriculum teams, SEND managers and behaviour support.

Who You Are:

• Good standard of education, including English and Maths

• Experience or willingness to train in learning support, personal care, First Aid, and Emotional Literacy Support.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• An understanding of the challenges faced by SEND learners in inner‑city contexts.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to use initiative in a busy environment.

• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional development.
