We wish to appoint for September 2017 an LSA to Heartlands High School Autism Provision in Haringey. The provision is co-located at Heartlands High School and opened in September 2011, we cater for students with severe to moderate autism and related learning needs. The successful post-holder will have the opportunity to work in a larger, brand-new, purpose build school for autism which the trust will be opening soon.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to be involved in the founding of this new school as all contracted staff in the current autism provision will transfer automatically to the new school with the same rights. 

This post will provide a unique opportunity to be part of a team working on the development of an outstanding Autism Provision which we hope to be a hub of excellent practice in Haringey. 

The successful candidate will make an important contribution to the school ethos. Their role will include supporting students, supporting small learning groups, working with staff to ensure an inclusive teaching approach, working with staff to support the learning needs of students on the autistic spectrum.

The successful candidate will have:

● Some experience of working with students with additional needs including autism

● A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students

● Ability to communicate well with students, teachers and adults

● Completion, or the readiness to complete, the LSA induction programme

● Some understanding of the issues relating to child development and inclusion

● A commitment to safeguarding children.

Support and development:

At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.

The CPD plan is released in September each year and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days.
