We have a fantastic opportunity at our Caledonia North Campus for an experienced and interactive Learning Mentor / Learning Support Assistant to join the team on a full time, permanent, term time only basis. With small class sizes, excellent facilities, outstanding behaviour and a values-based ethos to support staff and student wellbeing, you will adept at coaching our students to see and lead through challenges in their learning, so they make the best possible progress in each and every lesson.


N.B. Please note this position is based at our Caledonia North campus- Millden, Balmedie, Aberdeen AB23 8YY

Our students are provided with innovative teaching, empowered by new technology, including Zoom an the Learning Management System 'Canvas'. Aligned with local curriculum, our students are supported by teachers to take ownership of their learning as part of our Self-Directed Learning pedagogy. We are looking for conscientious and hard-working individuals who are passionate about modern education and pay meticulous attention to detail.


You will:

  • Have prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant or a similar role
  • Have experience of working with children of relevant age in a learning environment
  • Knowledge of ASN
  • Education to at least National 5, Standard Grade Level or equivalent
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Uphold and promulgate the OneSchool Global ethos within all areas of responsibility
  • To set an example of positive personal integrity and professionalism, with positive, appropriate and effective communications and relationships at all levels

Key responsibilities:

  • To support learning and teaching across the curriculum, particularly for pupils with additional support needs
  • To support the safe delivery of practical lessons over Zoom (e.g. Art, Food, Design Technology)
  • Provide pupils with the level and type of support specified by the Teacher or LSCO (Learning Support Coordinator)
  • Provide learning support for pupils & teachers within a Self-Directed Learning philosophy
  • To work with pupils, understanding how to motivate and encourage them to achieve and develop through the development of their attributes, skills and knowledge
  • Record progress and achievement in lesson / activities systematically and provide evidence of range and level of progress and attainment
  • To work with the students, understanding how to motivate and encourage them to develop and achieve
  • Organise and manage an appropriate learning environment and resources
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence
  • To ensure student planning is completed and effective and time is carefully accounted for and utilised
  • To create a safe and stimulating learning environment that supports learning and in which students feel secure and confident
