Due to continual expansion and internal restructuring, the academy is seeking a creative and experienced teaching assistant to work with students with cognitive and learning needs.

You will be responsible for overseeing physical and sensory support for students with Physiotherapy and/or Occupational Therapy programmes. Providing direct practical support for the qualified teacher by establishing good relationships with all students and giving appropriate comfort and care as to assist students (including those students with specialist learning needs) to reach their full potential.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with children and young people with SEND or physical and sensory needs
  • Be able to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and parents
  • Have experience of working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis
  • Be committed to prioritising the needs of the students in all that you do


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering general classroom support to carry out directed learning activities
  • Providing support to individual students through planned and differentiated activities
  • Assisting with students’ personal, behavioural and social development through appropriate advice and guidance
