The London Nautical School are looking to appoint an able, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive, passionate and dedicated team of professionals. Our vision is based around ‘Achievement For All’; therefore we are looking for candidates who are committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment for all students with special educational needs. As an LSA you will lead on the development of students’ literacy and communication skills and contribute to the supportive environment that we aim to provide in our Inclusive school. 

The main responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will be to support those students with a Statement or EHCP within the mainstream classroom to access the curriculum and develop independent learning skills. In addition to this, the main focus will also be ensure that students work towards their individual long and short term outcomes. Training for LSAs will be provided in Autism, Speech and Language, Behaviour and Literacy. Opportunities for professional development in teaching and leading on small group teaching is also available for an outstanding candidate. 

In September 2015, The London Nautical School opened a specialist resource base for students with Autism, who are supported in the class room and in small groups to develop their independent learning, social and emotional regulation skills. With the opening of this specialist resource base, came the opening of our state of the art inclusion centre in September 2016. 

Applications are invited from those with good interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with young people. Previous experience of working in schools is not a necessary requirement.
