Job overview
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) plays a key role in supporting the inclusion and progress of students with additional learning needs, ensuring they have access to high-quality education in line with the British curriculum. The LSA will work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and parents to provide tailored support that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support
Assist in delivering individualised learning programmes as directed by the Class Teacher or SENCo.
Provide one-to-one support to students with identified learning needs.
Encourage and motivate students to participate fully in class activities and school life.
Support students in developing independence, confidence, and appropriate social behaviour.
Monitor and record student progress and share feedback with the teacher and SENCo.
Classroom Support
Assist the teacher in preparing and adapting learning materials to meet student needs.
Support classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
Promote inclusion by facilitating positive interaction between students.
Supervise students during transitions, breaks, and activities as required.
Administrative and Compliance Support
Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
Support documentation and record-keeping related to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Assist in implementing school safeguarding and child protection policies
Participate in relevant training, meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
