Learning Support Assistant
Grade D – salary points 9-11
Actual Salary £20,205 - £20,954 per annum (£23,194 - £24,054 FTE) Term Time only plus 5 days - 37 Hours per week (8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am 4.00pm Friday) with a 30 minute break each day.

Nunthorpe is a very popular outstanding co-educational 11 – 19 comprehensive converter Academy with approximately 1550 students on roll.

If your answer is "yes", then Nunthorpe Academy are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, conscientious and hardworking individual to complement our learning support team.
The Role
Our team supports learning activities and offers support to some of our most vulnerable students in the Academy. This is, in our view, one of the most rewarding roles we have in the Academy.
The specific role offered is to support our Year 7 Nurture group, which consists of 12 students who have a modified and bespoke curriculum. This includes project based learning which ensures that our students can complete exciting work based around specific time periods or books and make clear progress. This is delivered alongside more traditional subjects like Maths, English, Science, Design and Technology, Computing, Music and Art as well as others.
The role involves travelling with the group to all lessons and offering help and support to specific students within the group. You will get to know a small cohort of students and their families really well, being able to offer outstanding support as the students move through the Academy on their own learning journeys.
There is a medical need within the group and full training will be given in terms of supporting the young person with this. Our SENCO is fully trained and will offer support as needed to this specific part of the role.
There will be an opportunity to complete a BSL Sign language training course as well as learn alongside and support our students in this learning as part of their curriculum.

The successful candidate will have had experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs supporting within the classroom as well as delivering successful intervention programmes to enhance the students’ progress.
Have knowledge of the New SEN Code of Practice-2014 (updated 2020)
Hold a Level 2 NVQ in Supporting teaching and Learning or equivalent education focused qualifications.
Qualified or willing to undertake basic medical training and to practice, to support a young person.
GCSE (or equivalent) grade B in Mathematics, Science and English, are a minimum qualification requirement for this post.
To be calm, efficient, and highly organised, with the flexibility to work with other faculties on occasion across our Academy is essential. Ability to work under pressure and willingness to adapt to the needs of the Academy is a must.
The successful candidate will have to undertake an enhanced DBS check
