Job Title:   Learning Support Assistant
Location:   Longdon Hall School, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS15 4PT
Hours:        37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | Tuesday- Friday: 8:30am - 4pm, Monday: 4:30pm for CPD.
Salary:       £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract:   Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:         October 2026

Whether you already have experience in specialist education or you're looking to bring your skills from care, retail, hospitality, youth work or another people-focused role, we'll provide the training, support and development to help you build a rewarding career in education.

What You'll Do:

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning and achieve their individual goals.

• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning that inspires confidence and curiosity.

• Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

• Prepare learning resources and help create stimulating, inclusive classroom environments.

• Encourage pupils' independence, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.

• Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school life.

• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider school team to achieve the very best outcomes for every pupil.

• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).

• Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.

• Is caring, patient and passionate about helping children and young people succeed.

• Can build positive relationships and remain calm, resilient and encouraging, even in challenging situations.

• Enjoys working as part of a supportive team and is eager to learn and develop.

• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience in an SEN or ASC setting is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from people with backgrounds in care, hospitality, retail, youth work, leisure or other customer-focused roles who are looking for a rewarding career where they can make a genuine difference every day.

About Us

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015 and is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and behaviours that may challenge, primarily associated with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

We operate across two specialist sites to provide age-appropriate learning environments: Egginton supporting pupils aged 7–14 and Branston Burton upon Trent supporting young people aged 14–18.
Our therapeutic, supportive and inclusive approach enables every pupil to develop confidence, independence and resilience. We help our young people understand the impact of their actions, make positive choices and develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.
