Job overview
Our goal at the BSN is to provide a secure, happy, and stimulating learning environment where all students are supported to achieve their full potential. We are proud of our high-quality Additional Educational Needs (AEN) provision, which offers tailored support to ensure that every student can access the curriculum effectively and meaningfully.
Please note only applicants with the right to work in the Netherlands will be considered for this role.
The Role:
Learning Support Assistants play a vital role in enabling students with additional needs to thrive at school. This includes supporting learners with diverse profiles such as language and literacy difficulties, social communication differences, and neurodivergent ways of processing. Support is delivered in a flexible and responsive way—both within the classroom and through tailored sessions outside of class—always in close collaboration with class teachers and the AEN team.
This role focuses on supporting students by understanding their learning needs, fostering positive relationships, and encouraging independence while supporting access to the curriculum. Responsibilities include adapting tasks, implementing learning programs, and working with students individually or in groups. Effective communication with teachers, specialists, and parents is essential, as is maintaining accurate records and contributing to student progress meetings. Learning Support Assistants will engage in professional development, participate in co-curricular activities, and collaborate with staff to ensure high-quality learning experiences.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have a solid general education and experience supporting students with additional educational needs in a school setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in ICT tools like Outlook and Excel, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. They should be patient, adaptable, and genuinely passionate about helping children learn. Desirable qualifications include formal training in Learning Support, familiarity with the British National Curriculum, experience with neurodiverse students, and knowledge of educational software or school data systems.
