Job overview
Norwich High School is looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated learning support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities in our Senior School.
In this role, you will primarily provide support to the learning and development of a Year 10 student with an Education and Health Care Plan. You will provide in-class support to the student, working closely with teachers and the SENDCo to implement and adapt learning programmes and resources to suit the needs of the student. Additionally, you will also deliver some literacy, numeracy and life skills sessions on a 1:1 basis.
You will have proven experience supporting children in a learning environment or educational establishment. A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (i.e. NVQ, NNEB, City & Guilds or BTEC) is desirable, but not essential. Strong listening and communication skills, as well as the ability to empathise with the needs of children is also crucial.
This is a part time role, for 24 hours per week on a term time only basis (plus 5 days in the school holidays). This role is on a fixed-term contract until July 2026 and is subject to renewal depending on council funding.
