Job overview

Why come to Latimer? This is a fantastic school to work in: as a result of our success and popularity we are over-subscribed and have a very strong positive reputation.  On interview we ask candidates for their impressions of the school and without fail they comment on how wonderful our students are, the supportive team ethos amongst staff and how friendly and welcoming the school is.

Ofsted April 2023:

Pupils are happy to attend this school. The school’s values include honesty, excellence, ambition, respect and teamwork. The school’s culture is rooted in these values. There are positive relationships between staff and pupils. Staff have high expectations, and pupils live up to these.

Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel well supported by leaders in respect of workload, well-being and managing pupils’ behaviour. Staff value the professional development they receive.

We genuinely care about our staff, their well-being and their professional development: we are a happy team, committed to working collaboratively and sharing the very best practice. This was very much recognised in our most recent Ofsted Inspection, where we sustained our Good rating. If you would you like to be part of a welcoming school community then you will not want to miss out on this opportunity to be appointed as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed to supporting those students who have additional needs. They will be able to relate to students in a calm, supportive and positive manner.

The post holder will support the needs of students on the SEN register within a variety of lessons.  Experience is desirable but not essential, we are looking for people with energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Every day is different so we need people who are resilient and work well as part of a team.

The hours of duty are 8.20am to 3:00pm (4 days a week) with an unpaid break of 40 minutes each day. One day a week the post holder would work until 4pm to support students attending our homework club. Attendance at our September training days is encouraged and will be paid as overtime.

Everything we do at The Latimer Arts College is underpinned by our core values of HEART:

  • Honesty – building open, trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues

  • Excellence – striving for the very best outcomes for every student

  • Achieve – supporting all students to realise their full potential, regardless of barriers

  • Respect – valuing every individual and promoting a culture of inclusion and understanding

  • Teamwork – working collaboratively to provide consistent, high-quality support

If you are committed to helping young people succeed and thrive, we would love to hear from you.

Apply now to become part of a team that puts students at the heart of everything we do.

Closing date: 9.00 am on Monday 15th June 2026.

Please note we do not accept CVs as part of our application process.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

The Latimer Arts College values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

At The Latimer Arts College we are committed to ensuring that everyone in our school feels safe, happy and is valued. We are over-subscribed, with approximately 1250 students aged 11-18 who are nurtured and guided through their education in a purposeful and caring community ethos based on respect for all.

We are a Foundation school, supported by a Governing Body and the Local Authority.  We are not part of a corporate Trust and can truly say we are a community school.

With our students at the heart of all that we do, we expect each member of the community to uphold our core values of Honesty, Excellence, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork. We encourage the development of leadership and resilience, to ensure students leave with the skills required for employment and future success. We also model the fundamental British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.  We aim to make a positive contribution to both our local community and wider society.

We have a passionate belief in the value of a well-rounded education and it is our intention to unlock the true potential within each and every individual, whatever that may be. We work collectively to motivate our students to place no boundaries on their ambitions, no limits on their aspirations and remove any barriers to their achievement.  Through our high expectations we inspire our students to achieve excellence and be the best that they can be.

Our staff are essential to our success and so we are fully committed to their wellbeing and professional development.

We  seek to appoint staff who thrive on collaboration,  innovation and a desire to be amazing: colleagues who have a passion for improving student achievement and personal development.  It is our responsibility to nurture you to deliver this success.

We have a highly successful induction programme for new staff, including an ECT programme, and we offer an extensive range of training throughout this.  We are passionate about supporting professional development to equip staff with the skills, knowledge and understanding that they need to not only fulfil their roles but most importantly to be fulfilled by their roles.  We offer continual staff development and frequent training opportunities.

We are committed to the DfE Education Staff Wellbeing Charter and have a varied programme of activities and support in place for our staff.  This is responsive and evolves annually based on context and needs, with our staff voice being instrumental in shaping what we provide.  We have a very low staff turnover and staff morale is high, this was evident in our last Ofsted report, in staff voice, and the fact that many staff choose to send their own children to the school.

The Wider Curriculum

We have a thriving House system, with two forms from each year group making up one of our four Houses.  This system epitomises the caring, community ethos, and encourages a little healthy competition too!

At The Latimer Arts College we passionately believe that participation in enrichment activities plays a significant contribution to personal growth and high academic achievement.  That is why we provide a range of extended opportunities throughout, and beyond, the academic year.  There is an expectation that all teaching staff will offer enrichment and this is factored into directed time.  Non-teaching staff can also support both tutor groups and enrichment should they wish to, as well as whole school events.

The enrichment programme offers something for everyone, and we are always open to new ideas from students and staff.  We encourage students to take part in as many of the exciting activities on offer as possible.

We believe in rewarding and recognising success in all aspects of academic and extra-curricular life.  This culminates in our annual Pride of Latimer Awards Evening.

Our Facilities

Ensuring that our staff and students can thrive in a positive learning environment is one of our key priorities.  Each learning  area is well-equipped with the specialist resources that individual subjects require.

We have a state-of-the-art Science Block, the Masque Theatre, a multi-use Sports Centre and a 4G all-weather pitch. Significant investment has been made in the site in recent years which means that we are the proud owners of a separate Sixth Form and Staff Café, a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, modern toilet block and extended canteen.  Staff teams have individual bases or offices, as well as access to a central staff room.

We continue to invest and innovate to improve the learning environment for all.  The Latimer Arts College provides an excellent environment to teach, learn and work in.
