Learning Support Assistant
Part Time (term time only)
H2 £18,562 - £19,312 + £626 Fringe Pro Rata
Start Date: September 2021/soon thereafter
We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.
St Mary’s Catholic School is seeking to appoint additional part-time Learning Support Assistant. We are seeking a positive, proactive person to join the Learning Support Team in a high performing school. This role will include support of additional students with a variety of additional and special needs throughout the school.
This individual will be working with individual students, supporting groups of students or whole classes and other related tasks. The candidate should be self-motivated and enjoy working independently as part of a small busy team.
Members of the Learning Support team work in all curriculum areas, so the successful applicant must be able to work unsupervised, be flexible, and able to work well as part of the wider school. They must also be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and pupils in a busy school environment. The ideal candidate will have experience of working as a Learning Support Assistant within a school environment, however this is not essential.
Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity. Our Surveys this year showed that 96% of staff enjoy their work at St Marys, 97% agree that leaders do all they can to ensure a motivated and respected staff, 100% of students enjoy their learning and believe that behaviour around the school is good, and 97% of parents would recommend St. Mary’s to other parents. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to work and enjoy their careers.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants. St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.
Closing date: 31st August 2021 10am, although we reserve the right to interview applicants as they apply, so early applications are advised.
Apply in writing using the forms available on our website http://www.stmarys.net/about-us/vacancies/ Support Staff Application Form , Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form. Welcome
St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.
Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.
The aims of the school are:
• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.
In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students. These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
