About Us

Due to continued growth and success, the Laurus Trust is delighted to announce the opening of Woodford Primary School in September 2022. We will initially be providing 30 Reception places with a further Reception class added each academic year, until we become a thriving 210 pupil primary school – from Reception to Year Six – in September 2028. The school will also have a 20 place Pre-School.

This leads to an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join the team and support the growth and development of our new school. You will directly support the learning, personal development and inclusion of pupils whilst providing high standards of care and play opportunities within our dedicated Kids Club.

Main Responsibilities   

  • Provide a range of suitable learning and play activities that will enhance teaching and learning for all pupils, both indoor and outdoor.    
  • Provide supervision of pupils during the lunchtime period both in the dining area and during playground activities    
  • Provide in class support for pupils to enable them to make progress.    
  • Deliver small group and one to one intervention programmes.     
  • Deputise in the absence of a teacher and conduct whole class lessons pre-planned by a teacher.     
  • Prepare and maintain learning resources and appropriate equipment for all students.     
  • Ensure the safety of pupils; considering pupil ages, disability and behaviour, recording and monitoring the safe arrival and departure of children and young people.    
  • Assist with day to day administration and maintain accurate and up to date pupil records.     
  • Liaise with parents and carers and provide effective home-school communication.     
  • Act upon the appropriate advice of outside agencies to implement advice and strategies to support pupils with additional needs.     
  • Ensure that appropriate staff ratios are adhered to at all times, managing staff cover and shifts as needed ensuring enough cover is available to monitor and evaluate play and behaviour.     
  • Assist in the day to day organisation, operation and risk assessments of the Kids Club.

Key Skills & Experience   

  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent     
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in childcare/play work or relevant qualification is essential    
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of play and how to create opportunities for a wide range of ages and interests     
  • Experience working with primary aged children or children with additional needs would be highly advantageous

Central Services

The nucleus of the Trust is our multi-functional and dedicated Central Services Team who provides continuous operational support to all of our schools across the Trust. This includes HR, Recruitment, Finance, Payroll & Pensions Administration, Marketing & Communications, IT, Estates & Facilities Management and Compliance and Data. Each team works tirelessly to ensure all services run smoothly and efficiently, enabling our teaching staff to focus on delivering an outstanding education for our students.

We have two further schools in the pre-opening phase: Laurus Grace, a school catering for students with significant social, emotional and mental health needs, and Crown Street Primary, a new primary in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
