Redbridge Primary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team from September 2026. We are a large, ambitious four-form entry primary school committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. We are proud of our diverse community and believe that all children should be able to participate fully in school life, regardless of their individual needs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across the school supporting pupils with a wide range of learning, communication, social, emotional, medical and physical needs. This role may also include supporting pupils with significant physical needs and therefore involves personal care, manual handling procedures, the use of specialist equipment and the implementation of therapy programmes. Appropriate training and ongoing support will be provided.
The successful candidate will:
• Support pupils to access learning and participate fully in all aspects of school life.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups under the direction of teaching staff.
• Support pupils with SEND, including those with physical disabilities, medical needs and complex learning needs.
• Assist with personal care in a respectful, dignified and child-centred manner where required.
• Support the implementation of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and other specialist programmes under professional guidance.
• Use specialist equipment, including hoists, standing frames, wheelchairs and mobility aids following appropriate training.
• Undertake manual handling procedures in accordance with risk assessments, training and policies.
• Promote pupils' independence, communication, self-esteem and wellbeing.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and other professionals.
• Support pupils during educational visits, playtimes and wider school activities.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. We are seeking someone who:
• Has experience working with children, preferably within an educational setting.
• Has experience supporting children with SEND or is willing to develop specialist skills.
• Is committed to inclusion and ensuring all pupils can access learning and school life.
• Is able to follow healthcare plans, therapy programmes and professional advice accurately.
• Is flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of pupils and the school.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Is willing to undertake training in areas such as manual handling, hoist use, personal care, medical needs and therapy programmes.
• Is able to carry out the physical requirements of the role, including supporting pupils with mobility needs, assisting with transfers using specialist equipment and participating in physical intervention programmes where appropriate.
Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided. At Redbridge Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
