Learning Support Assistant

Help students at Brinsworth Academy to realise their potential

At Brinsworth Academy, we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to achieve, regardless of the barriers they may face. We are looking for Learning Support Assistants who share that belief and want to play a hands-on role in helping our students build confidence, engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

Working as part of our Inclusion team, you will support students across all year groups who may experience learning, behavioural, social or emotional difficulties and/or disabilities. Much of your work will take place alongside teachers in mainstream classrooms, helping students access learning and achieve their individual targets. You may also act as a lead worker for identified students, helping to coordinate support and review the impact of provision with parents and carers.

This is a varied role where no two days will be quite the same. You could be supporting intervention programmes, working individually with students, contributing to review meetings, supporting curriculum activities or accompanying students on trips and activities.

Throughout, your focus will be on building positive relationships and helping young people overcome the challenges that can stand in the way of their learning.

About you

You will already have experience of working with young people and, most importantly, a genuine belief in what every student can achieve. You will need the resilience and sensitivity to support young people who may display challenging behaviour or experience significant barriers to learning, together with excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated, with the emotional intelligence, integrity and commitment needed to build strong relationships with students and colleagues. You should also have a good standard of education, including GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent.
