Learning Support Assistant

Hours: 37 hours per week, plus 2 INSET days

We are looking for a caring, motivated and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join the Inclusion Department at Dinnington High School.

Working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will provide individual and small-group support to help young people access the curriculum, overcome barriers to learning and develop greater confidence and independence. You will work closely with teachers and the Inclusion team, supporting students both within the classroom and, where appropriate, in dedicated withdrawal sessions.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to students' day-to-day experience of school. You will help reinforce learning, clarify instructions, support literacy and numeracy development and contribute to individual learning and behaviour plans. At the heart of the role is encouraging and motivating students so that they can make progress and achieve their potential.

About you

You will be a strong communicator who is calm, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people and colleagues. You will understand some of the barriers that can affect learning and social inclusion and be comfortable adapting your approach to meet individual students' needs.

Experience of working with secondary-age young people in education, youth work or another structured setting would be advantageous, as would experience of supporting students with SEN. You should also be organised, flexible and able to work effectively in a busy school environment.
