As a leading Further Education college in the West Midlands, we are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team on fixed-term contracts until June 2026, with both full-time and part-time hours available.
Please note that your salary will be calculated based on the number of term-time weeks and the hours worked. The advertised salary reflects the full academic year. Salary: £23,447 - £27,164 per annum (Pro rata £19,386.27 - £22,459.53).
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of complex special educational needs (SEN). Building positive, trusting relationships will be central to your success. You will be expected to support learners with a variety of challenges, including complex learning difficulties, behavioural needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key responsibilities include implementing effective behaviour management strategies, carrying out administrative tasks as required, and providing personal care with confidence, sensitivity, and respect. A genuine interest in education and a strong commitment to improving the lives of young people are essential.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will be adaptable, resilient and have a desire to make a lasting difference to the lives of our students. Your classroom and behavioural management skills will be strong and you will have the ability to work with students who have a wide range of emotional and physical needs.
To be successful you must have at least GCSE in English and Maths to grade C or above, or a recognised equivalent qualification (FS L2), and current skill levels at L2 in Literacy, Language and Numeracy. You will hold a minimum of a Level 2 subject qualification and a qualification related to supporting others, health and social care or teaching
We are hosting an assessment centre on Tuesday 13th June. The event will run for roughly 4 hours and will consist of a tour of our facilities, a group exercise, a formal interview, and an open Q&A with the hiring team and HR at the end. Food and refreshments will be provided. If you are able to attend this assessment centre you will have an outcome by the Friday. Please flag your availability on your application form.
