King Edward VI School is a thriving co-educational 11-18 day school looking to recruit an energetic and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the Curriculum Support Team. King Edward’s has a robust set of values and standards by which it nurtures and supports its pupils. The ultimate goal of KES is to produce rounded pupils that are intellectually robust and inquisitive, ready to take their first steps beyond school life with confidence and flair.

You will have a positive attitude and the ability to inspire young people to believe in themselves and flourish. You must have a desire to guide students through their barriers to learning to become the best they can be. Experience of working in an SEN role in a secondary school setting and using assessment tools is desirable. Ideally, you will be ELSA qualified or NVQ Level 3 qualified, or equivalent, in Teaching and Learning.

The successful candidate will contribute and impact on specific areas of SEND provision and develop an area of expertise to meet the needs of our cohort and reflect the individual’s skill-set. At least one of the following areas of experience would be an advantage although training will be provided: Specific Learning Difficulties (including dyslexia, dyspraxia and any other cognition and learning difficulties), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH).

King Edward VI School is a leading HMC Independent day school for children aged 11 – 18. King Edward’s is a school with a long and distinguished history and it has been at the heart of Southampton for over 460 years. The School has occupied 4 different sites, relocating to the purpose built site on Hill Lane in 1938. It became fully independent in 1979 and co-educational in 1994.
