Unsted Park School and Sixth Form are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join our Education team now!  We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Learning Support Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the  class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

Unsted Park School is a specialist residential and day school/6th form college for children and young people with higher functioning autism.  We are committed to providing the highest level of education and care in a safe, positive environment that enables each individual to achieve his or her maximum potential.

The focus of the whole school approach is in three core areas: education, independence and inclusion. Based on these core areas we provide individual, child-centred programmes which recognise individual abilities and strengths and help students to reach their full potential. 

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants with the passion, enthusiasm and drive to support our young people in achieving their potential.  You will be part of a dedicated and lively team that focuses strongly on the core areas of education, independence and inclusion.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work with class teachers to provide support for young people aged 7 to 19 with complex needs, all of whom are on the autistic spectrum (High Functioning Autism). This will be through various subjects and using different communication and engagement techniques.  Ideally you will have the following, but it is not essential to be experienced in working in a school environment. 

  • ​​Have experience working with children and young people
  • Have passion, enthusiasm and excellent communications skills
  • Have high levels of self-motivation
  • Be able to show patience and understanding in difficult situations
  • Be a positive role model who believes in helping our young people flourish
