Job overview

We are a small independent school located in the picturesque village of Pirbright in Surrey. Knowl Hill is a co-educational school committed to providing exceptional education for students with Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disabilities (SPLD). There is a lower school currently with pupils from years 5 to year 7, and an upper school with years 8 to 11.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team and support our students in unlocking their full potential.

As an LSA, you will play a crucial role in helping students engage with the curriculum through personalised, multi-sensory learning strategies. You will work closely with both individual students and small groups, supporting them in their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction/supervision of the teacher:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Dyslexia and other SPLD.
  • Assist in reading, writing, and subject-specific tasks using tailored strategies.
  • Help create and prepare accessible learning materials.
  • Support classroom management and create an inclusive, positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement learning support plans.

Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage sensitive information.
  • Experience working with students with learning difficulties (Dyslexia/SPLD).
  • Strong understanding of how learning difficulties affect students’ academic and emotional well-being.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

Why Join Us?

  • Make a real difference in students’ lives.
  • Work in a supportive, collaborative environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Access to specialised resources to support students’ learning.

If you are passionate about supporting students with learning differences and would love to be part of a team dedicated to their success, we want to hear from you!

Knowl Hill School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. A satisfactory DBS check is required for this position.
