Job overview

Learning Support Assistant (Autism / SEMH)

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic learning support assistant with a strong track record in delivering support in the classroom? Or perhaps you're looking to develop your experience of working with young people with autism within a supportive and inspiring setting? If so, we invite you to become a part of our vibrant and growing new SEN school, nestled in the breathtaking Surrey Hills.

About the Role

At Leith Hill School, we are seeking dynamic and committed learning support assistants who are passionate about making a real difference. Whether you're seasoned learning support assistant or just beginning your classroom journey, you will have the opportunity to thrive in a role that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous professional development.

Working alongside teachers and the therapy team, you will help to ensure that each pupil in your assigned tutor group has the individualised support necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your day-to-day role will involve working closely with one tutor group to support them in each of their lessons, and to assist with their transitions between different classes.

Our Ethos & Your Role Beyond the Classroom

As a learning support assistant in our SEN setting, you will play a key role in nurturing the wellbeing and personal development of our pupils, supporting their social and emotional growth and embodying the school’s values and ethos each day.

While experience supporting autistic learners and knowledge of EHCP processes would be advantageous, it is not essential. An interest in working with and supporting young people in year 7 through to GCSE would be beneficial although we do have positions in our year 3-6 cohorts. Full induction and ongoing training are provided as part of our commitment to professional excellence.

With a school culture that prioritises pupil and staff wellbeing, we offer a supportive and inclusive environment where people work collaboratively to embrace the 4C’s : confidence, competence, creativity and character.
