We are increasing the size of our LSA team to meet the needs of students entering the school in September 17.

St Bede's school has a good track record of ensuring the academic and pastoral development of all individuals. Our work with special needs and pupil premium pupils has produced one of the highest value added scores in Surrey.

Our SENDCo manages a Learning Support Team in which there are four senior staff responsible for co-ordination of interventions. They are supported by LSAs who work in class supporting students.

We see it as everyone's responsibility to identify, to plan and to make provision to meet the needs of special needs students, and to evaluate progress to ensure that these needs are met. The Learning Support Team works to support all staff in this work, by providing guidance, by working to support identified students, and by making specialist plans and provision.

Support Staff are valued members of the school community and fill vital roles. They are respected for the expertise they bring to their area of work.

In March 2023 Ofsted carried out an inspection of St Bede’s and judged the school outstanding.

St Bede’s is a good place to work. The community is vibrant, focused on learning and caring for our students. Staff relationships are very strong, supportive and welcoming.  Our students like the school and behaviour is outstanding. We have approximately 1900 mixed ability students aged 11-18.  This includes over 300 studying academic courses in the sixth form. Our GCSE exam results make us one of the highest performing non-selective state schools in the country reflecting the very effective three way partnership we enjoy; hardworking pupils, committed staff and supportive parents.

We welcome applications from ECTs and more experienced teachers. Whatever your level of experience, and regardless of whether you are a teacher or member of support staff, this is a school where you will have opportunity to develop.  Teachers in their ECT years benefit from an excellent level of support through mentoring and a full ECT programme.

St Bede’s is unique.  This is the only state-funded school where Anglicans, Roman Catholic and the Free Churches are bound together in a formal partnership to provide a common Christian education, which values the distinctive contribution of each tradition.  St Bede’s is a charitable trust jointly held by the Anglican Diocese of Southwark and the RC Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.  Staff can be of any religion, or none at all, but must be able to support the ethos of the school.

Our facilities are very good; staff have free access to fitness facilities and there is very good on-site catering.  Teaching and support staff have opportunities to be involved in a very wide range of activities and visits.  We are situated in Redhill Surrey with good transport links to both London and the south coast.  We are very close to beautiful countryside.  This area offers the best of all worlds!

Our school is committed to the safeguarding of children so all appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. Only applications made on our School Application form will be considered; we do not accept CVs or unsolicited testimonials.  It is our policy always to request references prior to interview.

Please note that due to the very high introductory fees charged by agencies,  we will only consider CVs submitted via them if insufficient high calibre applications are received.  Please do not rely on an agency to put you forward for a post at St Bede's to which you are attracted.

We look forward to hearing from you.
