At Ludlow Junior School, we pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive school and we work hard to make sure that we are meeting the needs of all of our pupils, inside and outside of the classroom, whatever their background, ability or interests. Therefore, we are looking for Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who are enthusiastic, dynamic and energetic. You will work closely with a class teacher within a supportive team to develop learning for all children - in our school, LSAs work with all of the children.
Our current vacancies may require a high level of 1-2-1 teaching and support for specific pupils with their academic progress, communication, and social emotional behaviour difficulties. There will be opportunities to work within the whole class, teaching small groups and on a 1:1 basis with individual pupils.
The successful candidate will have
• Experience working with or caring for children of relevant age in a school setting or other experience supporting the development and progress/attainment of children
• Good English and mathematics skills– level 2 or more (e.g. GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above in Maths and English)
• Knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation including child protection and safeguarding
• Ability to relate well to children and adults
• Work constructively as part of a team
• Basic understanding of child development and learning
• General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment supporting a range of needs which could include elements of challenging behaviour and/or complex learning needs
• Effective use of ICT
• Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
• Work to deadlines and understand priorities
