Contract: Permanent

We are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to join our vibrant and driven Learning Support Team. Much of the work will involve support within mainstream classrooms but the successful candidates will also be expected to work with students on an individual or small group basis to develop literacy and numeracy, and for some of the time with students with complex physical needs who require one-to-one support. An ability to empathise with students who have difficulties with communication and social skills is essential.

Candidates should possess a good standard of education, initiative and an ability to communicate well with both teaching staff and students. GCSE Grade C, or equivalent, in Maths and English is essential, and A levels (or equivalent) are desirable. Experience of working in a classroom environment is also desirable.

We are ideally looking for applicants who will be able to work 30 hours per week. However, we would consider requests to work either 18 hours or 24 hours and the ability to work a Friday would be an advantage. Please state the number of hours and days that you are able to work in your supporting statement.

Farlingaye High School is a popular and successful school, located in Woodbridge, a pleasant market town situated on the River Deben in Suffolk and just 7 miles from Ipswich. We are a creative school with excellent resources, lovely students and great results. Our most recent Ofsted report graded us Good with Outstanding areas.

We are part of East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST) alongside Kesgrave High School, Bungay High School and Castle East School. We are a Teaching School Hub partner, which allows us to improve teaching and learning on a continuous basis. We are committed to providing excellent staff opportunities through developing and promoting our staff and offering an excellent CPD and support programme for new staff.

We are also extremely pleased to have launched our own teacher training provider: EAST SCITT. This allows us to award QTS and also QTS + PGCE Programmes within both Primary and Secondary schools.

Should you wish to discuss the job role in further detail, please contact Linda Marsh, HR Manager or Julie Moore, SENCO at the school.

Please note: only applications submitted via the school’s on-line recruitment process will be considered.

Applications should be submitted as soon as possible but by 12.00 Noon on Wednesday, 14th June 2023 at the latest. However, please be aware that as we have more than one position available, we will hold interviews when we have received enough applications from suitably qualified applicants and we may close the advert before the closing date of 14th June.

Values and Vision

Our vision at Farlingaye is very clear.  We want our students to be taught by brilliant teachers, to learn to love different subjects, and to develop a sense that they are part of a wider community where their actions matter and their contribution is valued.

We want our students to excel here, to gain the skills and develop the qualities needed to go on and succeed in their future roles and careers beyond Farlingaye.  We also want to foster the passions and interests that our students hold in the future, by offering a chance for our students to involve themselves in a broad range of extra-curricular provision that enables them to participate in activities that develop resilience, teamwork and a sense of pride. We are hugely proud of what’s on offer at Farlingaye, from the range of sporting opportunity through to the music, art and drama that so many participate in.  Our aim therefore is to ensure that Farlingaye is a beacon of excellence in all it does.  As a staff we strive to ensure that every area of our school is the best it can be, and are committed to being restless in order to achieve this goal.  We are humble, keen to learn from others and aim to keep developing. We believe that all our key stakeholders - students, parents, staff and governors - have a key role in helping us further improve.

A student’s time at school should leave a lasting legacy on shaping the person they become – all our staff play a part in making that happen. Work with us as part of the Farlingaye community in an environment that helps you develop and progress in your career.
