Job overview

We have unique opportunities for dynamic staff to join our outstanding Special School as a Learning Support Assistant. The posts are supporting learners with moderate and complex learning difficulties in the age range 7-16 years and requires knowledge, skills and understanding to support across the school. Do you have a passion to: 

  •  Enable all pupils to fully participate in our community and beyond;
  • Support 1:1 in a classroom;
  • Promote positive relationships;
  • Achieve successful outcomes;
  • Promote a safe, secure, supportive and nurturing environment;
  • Support delivery of engaging teaching and developing new skills;
  • Promote a broad, balanced, relevant, coherent and participative curriculum which meets the needs of all our pupils.

We are an Outstanding outward looking and successful school for children with complex and moderate learning difficulties. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for their educational needs. These plans are mainly for moderate learning difficulties, however many pupils have associated disabilities such as speech, language and communication difficulties, autism and/or social, emotional, mental health needs. The school is not appropriate for conduct disorder or other social, emotional and behavioural/ mental health difficulties that present an ongoing significant risk to others

The Ashley School Academy Trust is a special school for both boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 11 and includes Residential provision.

We have specialist status for SEN Cognition & Learning. We are committed to providing exceptional opportunities for all our pupils.

The Ashley School Academy Trust has been awarded Outstanding in the most recent OfSTED inspection (November 2017) and our Residential provision was also rated as Outstanding in its most recent joint Ofsted/Social Care inspection (November 2021).
