Are you a learning/behaviour support specialist with a real passion for working with young people and looking for a new challenge?

Can you build positive relationships with young people and make a difference?

Are you enthusiastic, resilient and have a flexible approach.

Do you have the experience and passion to give the most vulnerable children and young people the best chance to succeed and thrive?

We are an Alternative Provision Academy based in Oxfordshire working with children from aged 5 to 16.  We call our Learning Support Assistants ‘Mentors’ at Meadowbrook.  They support our students to re-engage with their learning by helping them to overcome the difficulties that present as barriers to their learning and success in school.  Learning Mentors may also be involved in supporting students with safeguarding issues by attending associated meetings; experience of or willingness to support at multi-agency meetings and linking with the family would be desirable.

You will be part of a passionate and dedicated team making a real difference to young people’s lives.  We are looking for someone who has possesses a variety of special skills which can be used when working with young people and their families: eg. therapeutic mentoring; mental health first aid; safeguarding; managing challenging behaviour; academic support in the classroom.

This exciting and varied role will provide you with a wide range of experiences, including:

keyworking individual students

developing your skills in working with children with SEMH/ASD/Mental Health difficulties

supporting learning both in and out of the classroom

co-planning and supporting a variety of creative activities

We believe in a shared team ethos, working together using flexible and supportive approaches to develop students’ learning and behaviour.  Meadowbrook staff have a ‘can do’ attitude that makes a real difference to the lives of our students; many of which have become disengaged with education and lost the confidence to achieve their full potential.  We are always looking for creative and innovative ways forward and offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing professional development/training. Meadowbrook College is a welcoming, nurturing and stimulating environment to work in.  If this role appeals to you please contact us to find out more.

To apply please complete an application form together with a letter, outlining your skills and experience for this post, and send to Brenda Mundy - bmundy@meadowbrookcollege.org

Closing Date: Monday 8th November 2021.  Interviews to be held: Tuesday 16th November 2021

Located across four sites in Oxfordshire: Oxford, Banbury, Kidlington and Abingdon, we are an Alternative Provision (AP) Academy that provides full and part-time education and support to over 150 aged 5-16 students who are excluded from, or are finding it difficult to fully access, their mainstream schools.

We offer all our students another chance and provide a high quality, safe learning environment in which to help them develop the positive behaviours and skills which they can use to improve their life chances. We work hard to ensure our young people achieve the best outcomes by creating individual educational packages which meet their needs and equip them for their next destination.
