Description St Bede’s Catholic College is seeking a permanent full time Learning Support Coordinator to join its staff for Term 2 2021.

St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2021 the College will have approximately 540 Year 7-10 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023.

The key components that drive the development of the school are Courage, Knowledge, Community and Faith. These components align to the four domains of the College’s Strategic Plan – Catholic Formation and Mission, Learning and Teaching, Leadership, Wellbeing and Partnerships.
Position Requirements The Learning Support Coordinator works in collaboration with the school leadership team and has particular responsibility for the management of programs and processes to support students with additional needs (in consultation and collaboration with relevant school and CSO personnel).

The Learning Support Coordinator plays a vital role:


• In building partnerships between parents, students and staff and external specialists to ensure best care and education for students


• Identifying and support students with special education needs


• Working collaboratively to implement effective and targeted teaching and learning strategies within the classroom.
Essential Criteria Essential:

• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools.

• Experience in Special Education in a Secondary School

• Qualifications in Special Education or commitment to undertake further study

• Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher

• Possess high level communication skills and interpersonal skills, including empathy and confidentiality.

• Understanding of legislation relevant to Special Education and students with disability

• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category B – Accreditation to Teach (Teaching staff who do not teach Religion)

• Capacity to work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure continual improvement within a rapidly growing school.

• Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher

• Current NESA Accreditation

• Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC)

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training.
