We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and creative leader for our Learning Support department starting 1st October 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is 5 days a week and is based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO PO) for Primary Education, scale LC, placement and scaling will depend on relevant background and experience. The maximum step in scale LC is 12 and this is gross EUR 5.329, per month for a full-time employee. The contract offered to the successful applicant will be initially for one school year with the possibility of becoming permanent after this period.

The Learning Support team supports the learning of children who require specific interventions in different areas (academic and behaviour). The support for our students either takes place within the classroom or in small withdrawal groups.

The successful candidate will lead the Learning Support team, which currently consists of four learning support teachers and two teaching assistants..The successful candidate also needs to liaise closely with our EAL department and the Year Leaders of each year group in the school, as well as outside agencies in the Netherlands.

 

Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced and inclusive team leader with relevant expertise in the teaching of students with additional needs and strong leadership skills. Candidates should have a valid Primary teaching qualification as well as certified training in Special (additional) Needs and Inclusion.

The ability to support any counselling services or student wellbeing would also be welcomed as well as safeguarding training and knowledge of dealing with disclosures.

The candidate will also manage communication with several external organisations and educational advisors in the Netherlands, for financial support for individual students, psychological and educational assessments, additional services, advice on safeguarding, etcetera. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the Dutch educational laws on inclusive education and the ability to function in Dutch as well as in English is desirable.

Preference will be given to candidates with successful leadership experience.

We offer:

●     a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary (paid in May every year)

●     an end-of-year allowance: 8,33% of the gross annual salary (paid in December every year)

●     end of scale payment: €1591,09 (paid in August every year) if applicable

All amounts mentioned above are gross based on 1 FTE and calculated pro rata.

The Hague is a beautiful city located behind the sand dunes and adjacent to miles of clean and attractive beaches. It is the only major city in the Netherlands that lies directly at the sea, and it is known as 'the largest village in Europe' although it continues to grow in size. It is the seat of Dutch government and home to the Royal Family. It has a beautiful historic city centre and numerous Pleins (squares) where one can sit out and enjoy a drink and a snack. The city has beautiful architecture, numerous canals and an excellent public transport system. One of the particular pleasures of living in The Hague is the opportunity to cycle through the sand dunes alongside the beach. There are also extensive cycling routes to explore. In fact, most of our staff cycle to school. The Hague has an excellent shopping centre and is one of the best cities in Europe for eating out. One of the more noticeable features of The Hague is the profusion of parks in the city. It is one of the greenest cities in Europe as well as being a safe, friendly and relaxing place to live.
