We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Hub Assistant to join Dinnington High School and play an important role in supporting students who need additional help with their learning, wellbeing and engagement.
Working within our Learning Support Hub and as part of the wider inclusion team, you will support students aged 11–16 and help create a calm, structured and nurturing environment where students can regulate, build confidence and develop the skills they need to make academic, social and emotional progress.
You could be supporting a student with classwork or catch-up learning, helping to deliver targeted interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, SEMH, organisation or sensory regulation, or encouraging students to work towards the targets in their personalised plans. You will also help students make successful transitions back into mainstream lessons, working closely with teaching, pastoral and SEND colleagues.
You will contribute to the day-to-day running of the Hub, help maintain an organised and purposeful learning environment and provide feedback on students’ progress and emerging needs. You may also work with parents and carers and contribute observations and evidence to support individual plans and reviews.
About you
You will already have experience of working with young people in an educational setting and understand some of the barriers that can affect students aged 11–16. You will be able to build positive relationships, communicate clearly and provide encouragement while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Just as importantly, you will bring patience, empathy and a genuine desire to improve young people’s life chances. You will be confident supporting students with SEND, SEMH or other barriers to learning, able to respond sensitively to individual needs and comfortable working both as part of a team and independently.
A Teaching Assistant qualification would be desirable but is not essential. We are particularly interested in people who are keen to continue developing their knowledge and skills, and you will have opportunities to undertake training in SEND, SEMH, sensory needs and intervention practice.
