The Learning Support Unit (LSU) provides specialist education and support for 150+ young people aged 16-25 with moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities. Disabilities include physical and medical, communication and language as well as social, emotional and behaviour difficulties.

We are seeking to employ a highly motivated and appropriately qualified individual to lead the continuing growth and development of this provision, including the management of staff and resources.

You will have responsibility for the following:

  • The planning and development of a high quality LSU curriculum, including the recording and monitoring of all students’ progress and support needs.
  • Leadership and management of the LSU curriculum and in-class support teams, including line management of Curriculum Leaders and teaching staff.
  • Monitoring and developing the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • Supporting operational processes, including annual reviews, student recruitment, parental liaison and compliance with statutory and funding processes.
