ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Siena is seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Teacher to join the school from August 2026.

This role focuses on supporting students with additional learning needs across the school, ensuring inclusive classroom practice and enabling all learners to access the curriculum effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents and leadership to provide targeted support, develop individual learning plans and promote student progress and wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and support students with additional learning needs across the school

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support differentiation and inclusive practice

  • Deliver small-group and one-to-one support where appropriate

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching strategies

  • Liaise effectively with parents and external specialists where required

  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture

  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

  • A recognised teaching qualification

  • Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs

  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiation strategies

  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs or similar support plans

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A collaborative and student-centred approach

  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Desirable

  • Experience within an international school setting

  • Experience working with EAL learners

  • Familiarity with IB programmes or international curricula

  • Relevant SEN / Learning Support qualifications or training

  • Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
