Salary: Sedbergh has its own salary scale. The salary of the successful candidate will reflect experience. 

Sedbergh School is seeking to appoint a 0.8 part time Learning Support Teacher, to start in September 2022.

The Learning Support Department is a successful, effective and professional part of the School, providing guidance and support for pupils and staff. Over 160 pupils appear on the Learning Support register, of whom 50 are receiving Learning Support lessons. Most of these pupils have a diagnosis of Dyslexia. There are also pupils with Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia and the department also provides support for pupils with EHC plans. 

The primary purpose of the role is to offer support to groups and individual pupils who have been identified as having a Special Educational Need. The successful candidate will plan and deliver appropriate support lessons in lisaton with the Head of Learning Support and subject teachers, with a main focus on English, Maths and Science.

The candidate must have a high level of attention to detail, be organised and able to keep written records of any intervention and progress. They must be confident in regular report writing and parent consultation meetings, as well as attending and contributing to regular departmental meetings. Contribution to the coordination of and invigilation of internal and external assessments and examinations is essential, as well as attending whole School and departmental CPD and INSET days.
