Learning Support Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

Job role: Korean International School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced full-time Learning Support Teaching Assistant who has a keen interest in working with students with mild Special Educational Needs in the mainstream Secondary classroom setting.

Job responsibilities:

● Promote acceptance and inclusion of students with SEN in the classroom and in all areas of school life. 

● Assist students on an individual or small group basis in specific learning areas, under the direction of the Head of Learning Support, Deputy Heads and subject teachers. 

● Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students, in line with their specific needs and curriculum requirements 

● Collaborate subject teachers in lesson planning, differentiation and in the preparation of student resources.

● Provide push-ins support for caseload of SEN students in mainstream classrooms

● Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem, confidence, and independence

● Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions

● Participate in team meetings and Continuing Professional Development courses.

● Assist with the supervision of students in the school grounds, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities and life skills.

● Observe students and inform necessary when necessary

● Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluation of individual student involvement and achievement.

● Maintain documented records of student progress, observations, and areas for improvement; communicate case notes to the Learning Support team.

● Establish positive and professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues to ensure good communication and effective working practices.

● Action other duties as directed by the Head of Learning Support, Vice Principal or Principal.

Requirements for the Learning Support Teaching Assistant:

● Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Education or a relevant area) ● Minimum of two years’ experience of working with students with SEN

●Have knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with diverse needs

● Ability to build rapport with students aged 11-18

● Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

● Accountable, flexible, dynamic, displaying a can-do attitude and the ability to proactively propose solutions when facing issues
