We require a highly skilled, passionate and motivated individual to lead our Learning Support Team. You will co-ordinate the Learning Support Service across college ensuring that learners with additional needs have the opportunity to reach their full potential. You will work alongside curriculum and other team leaders to implement effective strategies which meet the needs of individuals by removing barriers to learning. You will ensure that all learners are able to achieve successful outcomes: academically, socially and in their progression to further study or employment. You will pro-actively promote the principles of inclusion throughout the college with regard to the SEND Code of Practice and Ofsted framework.
What you’ll need: You will have a sound understanding of the issues facing learners with SEND (with or without an EHCP) and be skilled in communicating with learners, parents/carers and partner agencies. You will have a problem solving approach, and the ability to inspire and motivate your team. You will have experience of Learning Support processes and knowledge of local/national strategy in relation to SEND.
This role will carry responsibility for:
- Line Management of the Learning Support Team and co-ordination of the service cross college (both 16-18,adults and apprentices)
- The identification of learner needs, quality of support and ensuring robust systems are in place to evidence support provided and learner progress
- Acting as the main point of contact for external agencies, the local authority and parents/carers
- Maintaining a close working relationship with curriculum teams to ensure learner needs are met
- Ensuring the effective transition of learners with SEN (with or without and EHCP)
