This is a new post so we are able to offer an immediate start date for this vacancy. We understand that applicants may have current work commitments and in such cases a mutually convenient start date will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Greig City Academy is seeking to appoint a Learning Centre Team Worker with the ability to break through barriers to learning and re-engage some of our most challenging and disaffected students so that they are ready to fully participate in school life. You will have day-to-day responsibilities that enable students for example, those with social, emotional or learning issues, to fulfil their potential at this crucial stage in their lives.

Our school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between students, staff and wider stakeholders. Ours is a well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world.

You will be joining an established team, dedicated to meeting the very specific needs of individual students who might otherwise be destined to fail in a mainstream school for example, students with persistent challenging behaviour. As a result of tailored and collaborative interventions, we know such students can thrive. You would play a key role in raising standards, helping these students to become productive learners with access to further and higher education or training and towards a successful future in line with their peers.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in bringing out the very best in young people, have a flexible approach and demonstrate an understanding of the necessity to remove barriers to student learning potential. This is a full time position on a 40 week contract.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff. It is committed to the principle of equal opportunities; we welcome all applicants and value the diversity they bring.

The closing date for receiving completed application forms is Wednesday 16th October and it is anticipated that interviews will be held on Friday 18th October.

Please note that we reserve the right to close or extend the deadline for this position depending on application numbers, therefore we would urge candidates to submit an application at their earliest opportunity.
