Job overview

Creating Great Futures.

In February 2019 Coulsdon Sixth Form College was incorporated into Croydon College. Our wonderful Coulsdon campus remains in the heart of Old Coulsdon, having had a complete rebuild, which offers exceptional learning facilities for over 1,100 students, and a fantastic working environment for our staff. Our visions and values ensure that we put our students first and value our staff as our greatest asset. We believe it is through our people that an excellent student experience will be delivered, and this will have a positive impact in our local community.

We are seeking to recruit some enthusiastic and resilient learning support workers with a commitment to providing the best quality experiences for young people with complex needs, attending college.

Whether you are already a highly skilled SEND practitioner, or you feel you have the attitude and personal qualities that match the profile, we have roles that will give you the opportunity to work 1 to 1, with other support workers, with individual students or with groups of learners.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with young people with a range of complex special education needs, including those with autism, health, physical, emotional and behavioural support needs.

If not, you’ll perhaps have experience in a linked field, be a fast learner with the ability to form good working relationships with students, parents/carers and colleagues and be able to demonstrate that you can:

·        work appropriately and effectively with students

·        promote students’ social and emotional development

·        respond calmly and effectively to displayed behaviours

·        work independently and as part of a team

·        use your excellent communication skills to work effectively with the class teams, parents/cares and other professionals and keep clear records of support and progress

Whatever your experience level, you will use your can-do attitude to deliver personalised learning programmes, using strategies that empower and support individual students to develop their social skills and independence.

These posts will be based at Coulsdon College but opportunities to work at Croydon College as part of your timetable may arise as we further develop SEND provision.

Please see the Job Description for full details of the role.

Apart from our great location, our wonderful staff and positive culture, we also offer a range of other staff benefits, including generous annual leave and defined benefit pension schemes. We also value staff development and have 7 days a year planned for staff development, including elements of team development, socialisation and staff wellbeing.

If you are as passionate about making a difference, we look forward to receiving your application and joining our great college group.
