Contract term: Permanent 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

We are seeking an excellent College Lecturer to join our existing FE College curriculum team, teaching young people with complex learning needs and/or disabilities who:

  • thinks creatively and engage positively;
  • set differentiated learning targets to meet individual needs;
  • maximise learning opportunities and achievement;
  • can optimise the contribution of classroom support staff;
  • will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues towards delivering excellence.

You will have high aspirations and the ability to deliver learning in an accessible manner. A creative approach to accessible learning and excellent interpersonal skills which motivate and enthuse learners are an essential thus ensuring learning is maximised and learners meet their full potential.

You will need to bring a relevant teaching qualification plus experience in delivering high quality learning and teaching to learners aged 19 – 25 years.

 Based in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, St. Elizabeth’s Centre manages and runs a School for 5-19 year olds, a College for 18-25 year olds (supported by a Domiciliary Care Agency) and a Residential Care Home with Nursing. The centre provides education, care and medical support for people of all ages who have epilepsy and other complex needs. Established in 1903, St. Elizabeth’s is one of the charitable works of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross of Liege ("the Congregation"), a Catholic religious congregation, founded in 1833 in Liege, Belgium. The centre is set in set in 65 acres of parkland and employs over 600 staff. As of the most recent inspection there were 37 students in the college facility. The town of Much Hadham has a population of 3,000, and is eight miles north of Harlow.

The skills of numeracy, literacy and communication are embedded within the waking day curriculum of living and learning at the College. The learning programme is accredited through City & Guilds. This gives a flexible, modular structure that has a range of outcomes. Functional skills are embedded within the learning. The curriculum is also designed to provide learning experiences and opportunities to meet the holistic needs and interests of the learners.
