Job overview

Head of Business: Paul Spencer 01534 608681

At Highlands College we focus on student achievement, we’re not inspected by OFSTED, we’re not funded by the Skills funding agency and we’re not merging. Our lecturer terms and conditions are well above that of most UK colleges and we dare to be different.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation of Business leaders for the next academic year on a one year fixed term contract, as part of a year’s maternity cover.

Highlands College is seeking an inspirational and exceptional Lecturer in Business studies to teach a range of programmes to post-16 and adult learners. Experience in delivering Business qualifications at levels 2 and 3 is essential. You must be able to engage and motivate students of all abilities and have an innovative and dynamic approach to teaching and learning.

The College has a major impact on the Island and people of Jersey, and is a complex organisation. Highlands College provides a wide range of full-time, part-time, Higher Education and Adult Education programmes and is the largest single provider of education on the Island with approximately 7000 student enrolments in any one year. A wide range of Level 1 and 2 courses and seven Level 3 BTEC Extended Diplomas are available with additional courses in Foundation Studies in Art and Design, Childhood Studies, Beauty and Access to Higher Education. Highlands College also offers 7 full-time degrees in partnership with Plymouth University and 2 with London South Bank University. As well as the vocational provision, the College offers BTEC Functional Skills in Mathematics and English at L1 and 2 and a GCSE retake programme in English and Maths. The part-time offer at Highlands College covers many areas of management, human resources, computing, ESOL, languages, sport, counselling, construction, hospitality, and childhood studies, offering a range of professional qualifications.

Jersey is a unique and beautiful island, with a temperate climate and an abundance of beaches. If you are passionate about teaching and are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in a special and scenic setting, this may be the role for you.
