The lecturer in Physics will join our Yale campus on a permanent, full time basis and teach AS/A2 Physics, Physics/Science units on the Extended Diploma, Level 2 Extended Certificate in Applied Science and GCSE Science.

Within the role your duties will include carrying out scheduled teaching and exam invigilation, preparing learning materials, marking students’ work and liaising with awarding bodies, universities and industry. You will be assessing the outcomes of learning and students’ achievements. You will need to recognise and make students aware of their strengths and development needs and manage students’ learning in the classroom effectively and appropriately.

You will act as a personal tutor and provide educational guidance, support and counselling for students and liaise with tutors from other areas of the college to plan resources, develop the curriculum and monitor student progress. Within your personal tutor role you will support students completing Skills Challenges for the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate.

You will need to complete and produce documentation such as registers, schemes of work, records of work, course review, course analysis documentation and student reports. You will assist with marketing, planning, assessment and evaluation of course provision and be involved in the recruitment and interviewing of students when required.

You should be qualified to at least Level 5 in a relevant specialist subject area and hold a teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PGCE or City & Guilds 7407. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of current developments within Physics and ways of keeping up to date with these. You will need to apply specific knowledge to practice. It is important that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are a strong team player who can establish effective working relationships and work enthusiastically within the college.

The ability to speak fluent Welsh is highly desirable.
