We are seeking a skilful, dedicated and experienced lecturer to join a successful Public Services team.  The main focus of the role is teaching the practical and theoretical aspects of the Public Services provision as well as course management responsibilities.  You should be confident to deliver fitness and sporting activities to students as well as be able to support some teaching on BTEC sport programmes when necessary.   A full teaching qualification is desirable, but training can be provided.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have experience teaching on BTEC programmes to a minimum standard of grade 2
  • have experience in  effectively managing learners through their college programmes from      enrolment to completion ensuring high grades and strong success
  • have up-to-date knowledge of the uniformed and emergency services, where previous      employment in the services would be a distinct advantage
  • put Teaching, Learning and Assessment at the forefront of everything they do and will      aspire to excellence in all areas of work
  • value learner experience and make that the motivation behind aspiring towards excellence
  • use ILT to enhance working practices as well as learning opportunities for learners
  • be highly effective at managing their time and meeting deadlines
  • be an effective team member.

Central Bedfordshire College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college, situated across six campuses in and around Dunstable in Bedfordshire. The college provides 16 to 19 study programmes for around 1,200 students with the large majority on level 2 and level 3 programmes. Courses include health and social care, engineering, construction, media and business.

The college was originally established in 1961 in Dunstable and, in January 2010, was renamed Central Bedfordshire College – reflecting the college's commitment to Central Bedfordshire as a whole and its ambition to be recognised as the premier post sixteen institution in the area. It has recently invested in the Kingsway Project which has created new facilities.
