New College Stamford is in the small rural market town of Stamford in Lincolnshire; an attractive market town (pop. 19,000) situated on the border of five counties (Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Huntingdon and Cambridge). It is described as the ‘finest stone town in England’ and has good transport links nationally via train and road networks.

Lecturer in Sociology

The successful candidate will contribute effectively to the successful learning experiences of the students in the College through effective teaching that meets or exceeds College standards and results in high levels of student retention and achievement.  This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and learner centric professional who can demonstrate a commitment to meeting the Professional Teaching Standards in support of the learner journey.

The successful candidate will be qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject, be a qualified teacher (or willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe).  An in-depth knowledge of the subject specialism, in order to teach on AS and A2 Sociology is essential.

The successful candidate must have the ability to inspire, motivate and raise aspirations by delivering lessons at a standard of ‘Good’ or above.

New College Stamford is a further education college based in Lincolnshire. It is a college on the move with high expectations and high standards.  In February 2017 New College Stamford was rated GOOD by Ofsted and is now aiming for excellence.

Principal

Janet Meenaghan who joined the college in September 2015, has successfully promoted an ambitious vision for the college that focuses very clearly on high expectations of both learners and staff. Through frequent staff meetings, she and her senior managers have communicated well what is working effectively and what is not. They support and encourage staff to take responsibility for improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment within their subject areas. As a result, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and outcomes for learners have improved and are good.
