Job overview

Joining us as Lecturer – Inclusive Learning, you will assess learners who have a wide range of inclusive needs and ensure that learners are offered the maximum opportunity to meet their full potential.


Demonstrating inspirational teaching, learning and assessment practice, you will provide a rich and stretching learning experience for learners and initiate improvements in learner recruitment, retention, achievement and progression. This may include whole group, small group and 1:1 teaching. You will work in partnership with the curriculum areas to plan a path for each learner along with specific targets which will guide and enable the young person to succeed and progress.


This role requires a recognised specific learning difficulties qualification for teaching and assessing for exam access arrangements and someone who has successful recent experience of assessing learners with a wide range of specific learning difficulties. You will have a proven track record of devising and implementing programmes of specific learning difficulty support for learners on a wide range of courses and levels, and of specific learning difficulty teaching development that leads to improved success rates for learners.


The successful candidate will also have experience of contributing to EHCPs and justifying high needs support funding to Local Authorities. Computer literate, you will be confident writing assessment reports for a wide audience and be able to keep clear and accurate records for additional support funding purposes. Qualified Teacher Status is not essential; however, we would like you to have a willingness to achieve this within 12 months of appointment.

Carshalton College is a co-educational further education college based in Sutton. It is a non-denominational school.

The college has been an education provider for over 60 years. It is a major provider of full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, access, undergraduate and supported learning courses. 

The college is situated in an environment surrounded by parks and ponds, but within a proximity of the towns of Sutton and Croydon. It is accessible from all areas of south London and its transport links also allow its students to be in the centre of London within 30 minutes.
