We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic individual to join our Bradford School of Art as a Lecturer for our Saturday Music Club.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and passionate Music Tutor/Lecturer to run a weekly Saturday club for 13–16-year-olds. You will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students can develop their musical skills and explore their creativity. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented musician who enjoys working with young people and has a strong desire to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians.

This position is to lead a 2 hour music club every Saturday morning.

Responsibilities include:

*        Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of music theory, music appreciation, and practical skills, tailored to the needs and abilities of 13–16-year-olds.

*        Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons that foster a love of music and encourage students to explore their musical potential.

*        Provide individual and group music lessons, ensuring that each student receives personalised attention and guidance.

*        Teach students how to play various musical instruments, such as guitar, piano, drums, or any other instrument based on your expertise.

*        Instruct students in proper techniques, musical interpretation, and performance skills.

*        Organise and facilitate regular rehearsals, preparing students for performances, recitals and competitions.

*        Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and respect among students.

*        Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help improve their skills.

*        Stay updated on current trends and developments in music education, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies into your lessons.

*        Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and student evaluation.

*        To be responsible to the Head of Department/Head of School for student discipline, counselling and guidance relating to all assigned classes

*        To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.

*        To participate actively in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers and training agencies.

*        To provide appropriate information to parents/employers through College reporting systems and open evenings

*        To assist the Head of Department/Head of School with costings and control of materials and equipment when specified.

*        To participate in the development of workshops, laboratories and facilities, where appropriate.

*        To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.

Education & Training

*        Degree or equivalent in Music education, music performance, or a related field.

*        A relevant teaching qualification or working towards this qualification.

*        GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.

*        GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

*        Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programmes.

*        Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.

*        Good organisational and administrative skills.

*        Experience of Good teaching/training.

*        Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures

*        Experience of course leadership responsibilities
