Job overview

Here at Carshalton College, we are now looking to appoint two Lecturers in Supported Learning: one permanent and the other, a fixed term contract for the academic year 2022-2023.

Within the role, you will support the students in the Supported Learning area of the College, providing tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities. You will take an active role in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation and deliver Maths and English to LLDD at the appropriate level.

We’re looking for someone who has experience of working with learners with LLDD and who has a good understanding of their needs. Able to provide effective learner support, you will have knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post 16 sector, including RARPA, and understand a range of strategies to meet the individual learning needs of students, particularly those with learning disabilities or difficulties.

Able to work successfully as part of a team, you will be able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work in a pressured environment. You’ll demonstrate the ability to teach and communicate at a level appropriate to the students and be comfortable managing students offering challenging behaviour.

A teaching qualification is not essential; however, we do ask that you are willing to achieve one in line with current regulations.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 29th June 2022.
