Job overview

About the role:  As a brand new role for the Trust, we are seeking to recruit a Leigh Aspire Programme Manager  to work with our Academies across the Trust, helping to develop,  implement and manage a programme to help our high-achieving pupils  (HAPs) reach their full potential. This is a unique opportunity to join a  successful and growing organisation in a pivotal role and at a key  phase in its development, and the chance to make the role your own.

We see this role being designed to support a cohort of between 30-50  pupils per year, 2-4 per Academies within the Trust, who are selected  using a variety of entry criteria determined by our Principals and the  Leader of the Programme once in post.  Once identified, our successful  candidate will then work with these pupils to instil and strengthen  their soft skills which will benefit them in the future.  The qualities  that we are keen to develop are very much in-line with the International  Baccalaureate Programme in which students strive to be;

•    Inquirers
•    Knowledgeable
•    Thinkers
•    Communicators
•    Principled
•    Open-minded
•    Caring
•    Risk-takers
•    Balanced
•    Reflective.

You can understand more about the IB Programme and model by clicking here.  These skills will benefit our students both in and out of the  classroom.  This role would particularly suit individuals with a  background in educational projects or events management. Our successful  candidate will be responsible for:

•    Developing the overall strategy alongside educational advisors  and managing delivery of the programme alongside and via academy staff;
•    Providing opportunities for parents to understand how they can support their high-achieving children better;
•    Arranging internal and external co-curricular enrichment events as  well as summer schools, residentials, scholarships and international  exchanges for HAPs;
•    Developing even stronger links between LAT and Russell Group  universities and advise on student A-level choices/university  choices/personal statements and staff references for UCAS across the  Trust;
•    Creating programmes to encourage greater resilience in HAPs to achieve top grades;
•    Producing a menu of events, visits, guest speakers and seminars for  HAPs as they build their ‘Leigh Aspire’ passport to success;
•    Develop and manage public profile through social media, newsletters and reports (online/print).

Please consult the Recruitment Pack  for further information on the role and the responsibilities associated  with the post.  We welcome the opportunity to have a telephone  conversation with interested candidates prior to the closing date -  please contact Olivia Couzins to schedule this (01322 620 522 /  olivia.couzins@latrust.org.uk).

What are we looking for in you?  We seek to recruit  talented individuals that are engaging and passionate about what they  do. We believe that the successful candidate will be out-going, highly  personable and have considerable self-motivation which will drive them  to do the best by our students and create a world class programme. They  will have experience of building relationships, be highly organised and  demonstrate integrity in all they do.  Ideally, our successful candidate  will also be a Graduate.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust:  Leigh  Academies Trust operates 15 academies across the South East, plus two in  the pre-opening phase and one further academy to join over the next  coming months.  We are responsible for the education of nearly 9,000  pupils from ages 3 to 19. The Trust seeks excellence in all that it  does, with a mission to shape the lives of young people for the better  and in doing so, transform the communities in which they live. Our  academies have benefited from over £100m of capital investment and are  privileged to employ over 1,600 highly talented staff between them.  For  more information on working for the Trust please visit our careers  pages.

Diversity at our core:  As a Trust we are passionate  about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring  something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or  disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without  compromise.  The Trust is committed to safeguarding children and  successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our  commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks  which are in place across the Trust.

About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across four ‘clusters’: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London and Medway.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. As of 1st April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.

This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates - you can read more about this in our Recruitment Guidance. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.
