Boston Spa Academy is a mixed, secondary school for children aged 11-18 based in Boston Spa, Wetherby, West Yorkshire with a growing reputation for academic excellence, high quality personal development provision and strong pastoral support. The school has around 1,500 students of which approximately 260 attend the growing sixth form.

In September 2018, Boston Spa Academy officially joined the highly successful and nationally renowned GORSE trust. As a direct impact of working with colleagues at GORSE the academy has moved from being a school with average performance to one which is now well above the national average. Boston Spa Academy is now amongst the highest performing schools in Leeds, the Yorkshire and Humber region and the country.

The academy has invested significantly in facilities for our students in recent years, including a brand new auditorium building, new student and staff toilet areas, renovated dining halls, new classroom areas, brand-new library and IT facilities and our new Sixth Form Centre which opened in September 2026.

Our ‘Shaping Character Programme’ is a wide ranging and incredibly exciting personal development programme which ensures that all young people at Boston Spa Academy enjoy the experiences and education required to become well-rounded individuals. This programme includes, but is not limited to, our ‘Character and Ambition Pathway’, extensive educational visits programme, House System, Student Leadership opportunities and our Enrichment++ provision, which is designed to encourage young

people to learn beyond the classroom and includes opportunities to take part in sport, art, languages, humanities, science, outdoor pursuits and a range of volunteering and charitable work at local, national and international levels.

As part of GORSE, Boston Spa Academy is in the vanguard of educational developments in Leeds, Yorkshire and on a national level. As a school community, we strive to deliver an exceptional standard of education and this is reflected in the excellent outcomes that students achieve at both GCSE and A Level.

At Boston Spa Academy, we are proud that, in our most recent Ofsted inspection graded “Outstanding”, it was commented that ‘staff feel valued and are proud to be members of the school’. The report also recognises that ‘leaders are highly supportive’ and ‘proactively seek to manage workload and support the well-being of staff’.
